Details
This is a beautiful and rare vintage advertising dish from Truax & Son, a business that operated in Gosport, Indiana. The dish is a small, off-white ceramic piece with a scalloped, organic shape. The front features a colorful transfer print with a pastoral scene including a house, a small body of water, and a flock of birds in flight. The scene is surrounded by delicate, gold-gilt floral and leaf designs.
Beneath the central image, the text "Truax & Son" is prominently displayed, followed by a list of their services: "Furniture, Stoves & Wall Paper" and "Funeral Directors." At the bottom, "GOSPORT, IND" is printed, specifying the location. The dish has a noticeable crazing pattern across its surface, which is typical for vintage ceramic items of this age and adds to its antique charm.
Condition:
The dish is in good vintage condition. There is significant crazing, as shown in the photos, which is a natural part of the aging process for this type of ceramic. There are a few small dark spots and surface marks consistent with age and use. The gold gilt is mostly intact, with some minor fading. The back is plain and has some scuffs and marks. Please examine all photos carefully as they are part of the description.
