Fenton Art Glass Company, founded in 1905 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, became one of the most famous American glass manufacturers, known for its colorful and innovative art glass. They popularized many decorative techniques, including hobnail, carnival glass, and opalescent glass, making their pieces highly collectible.
This particular vase exhibits the classic "hobnail" pattern, where small, raised bumps cover the glass surface, and the "opalescent" effect, which gives the glass a milky, iridescent quality, especially around the edges and raised elements. The cranberry color combined with opalescence is a signature look for Fenton, often produced in the mid-20th century.
