Details

Up for your consideration is an outstanding Stanley #5 Type 11 hand plane. I believe this is an early model of the type 11 as it has the short front knob and the brass barrel nuts. Sometime in the type 11 run(1910-1918) Stanley switched over to the high knob and hour glass shaped brass nuts. The Japanning was a little spotty on this plane so I stripped it off and re-Japanned it using Stanley's factory recipe and baked it on low heat 5 times. I have also sharpened the iron going through the grits up to 8000 and it is razor sharp. I have flattened the sole and lapped the lever cap and the chip breaker so they fit tight to the iron. The beautiful dark Brazlian rosewood is in perfect shape and show their original patina.
